A problen with a HEC 1050W washing machine

Recommended Posts

The problem with the above washing machine is when you switch it on it does not start to wash . The red / yellow  door light flickers 6 or 7 times which indicates some problem

My question what is the problem and can it be fixed or is it time to dump the machine and it has not done to much washing either and it should not pack up like this I guess

If the washing machine doesn't do anything at all apart from flash the door light than the number one suspect is a problem with the door interlock - it's not forced to be a door interlock problem. Nothing will happen with the washing machine if the door is open. The control panel should light up and other lights but it won't take in any water or energise the motor until the door is properly closed.

If the door is properly closed, and there is nothing wrong with the door latch preventing it from activating the door lock then there could be a fault on the door lock or a connection fault somewhere on it causing the machine to believe that the door is not closed when it actually is. Most door interlocks work in the same way as described in my article here - how do washing machine door locks work?

I should have said in the first place that the problem started when the washing machine was in the washing process and it just stopped and has not started since I had to drain the water out of the drum to get the clothes out as the door would not open when it was full of water

Faults with the door lock, or connections to it etc could happen mid-cycle. The flashing could be an error code if it flashes a specific number of times then pauses for a second and repeats but unfortunately I don't have any error code information for that washing machine.
