claptoon
I bought an Indesit washer from Curry's, the IWC71452 which is on special at £179 at the mo. It was used twice and then stopped working. I went through the trouble shoot guide but nothing. Eventually got an engineer out and it turned out to be a rubber washer in the filter which was flat on one side, ridged on the other and not a full circle, it was manufactured with a break in it. The fitter wondered if it came out of the clothes washed but i know this is impossible and I suspect it was either part of the washer or filter. Can anyone suggest what it was? its around 40mm in diameter, soft rubber and similar to what you would get in a waste compression joint.

edhorwood
I cant help if its a sprue broken away from a rubber hose. Is it basically the same diameter as the drain hose? I mean would it sit comfortably inside the drain hose. If so ignore it. It cant be a seal with an opening in it.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted October 26, 2015 Root Admin Report Share Posted October 26, 2015 Don't recognise it but can't see it being a seal if it's open ended and not closed because it couldn't create a proper seal with that gap. claptoon
Its about 40mm in diameter so not the waste water hose. I wondered if it has accidently found its way into the washer at the factory? I only washed towels and the underwear and socks so I know i didnt put it in there. Its about the size of a 1 and a half waste pipe, So still a mystery then ! I'm hoping i dont get a bill for calling out the Indesit engineer (which I won't be paying). Thanks for the input though. Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted October 26, 2015 Root Admin Report Share Posted October 26, 2015 It's possible, I know of one case where a screw punched a hole in an outer tub and the repairman blamed the customer. It was sent to the manufacturer who confirmed it did come from the factory. Also bear in mind that an obstruction getting into the pump doesn't necessarily come from the last wash, especially if relatively light. Something could be knocking about inside for a few washes before finding its way into the pump. Need a repair or spare parts?
