Simmo1111
Hi, I have a Zanussi FJ1296 machine where I suspect that the door interlock has failed. The cycle kept cutting in and out and the door closed light was flicking on and off. The door wouldn't open when I turned the machine off and I had to manually drain it in order to reduce the pressure in the system and allow the interlock to open. I now have the problem where as soon as I turn on the machine, the orange door light is on straight away (and stays on) but the door will still open. The washing machine won't do anything at all at that point. It's an old machine and I was wondering if I could bypass the switch to get a bit more life out of the machine? Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted June 22, 2015 Root Admin Report Share Posted June 22, 2015 You can't bypass a door interlock because it is a vital safety device. Door interlocks are not expensive enough to render the washing machine beyond economic repair so it should be repairable. This article might help - How does a door interlock work?
