typhoon4665
The machine starts, fills with water then spins very fast for a few seconds 3 times with a minute or so gap in between, empties and then stops. The display says END and the timer doesn't change. Any advice would be appreciated. I have checked all accessible connections and components and can't find anything obvious. Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted December 10, 2013 Root Admin Report Share Posted December 10, 2013 It sounds like it's lost control of the motor. It's trying to get the motor to wash but it's shooting into a spin and it's detecting this and aborting the programme. A broken tacho magnet on the motor under the motor plug housing could account for it but potentially other things could too. Need a repair or spare parts? Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted December 11, 2013 Root Admin Report Share Posted December 11, 2013 There's an explanation of how the machine controls motor speeds in this article under the section "Tacho generator fault" http://www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/hoover-nextra-error-code-7/ Need a repair or spare parts? typhoon4665
Thank you, it was very helpful, I will strip it down and check the tacho magnet is secure and check the resistance of the circuit.
typhoon4665
The machine starts, fills with water then spins very fast for a few seconds 3 times with a minute or so gap in between, empties and then stops. The display says END and the timer doesn't change. Any advice would be appreciated. I have checked all accessible connections and components and can't find anything obvious. I have checked the motor, the bushes are fine and I cleaned the commutator. The Tacho magnet is secure in its housing and I have checked all cable connections and found no obvious faults. Does anybody have any other suggestions please.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted January 5, 2014 Root Admin Report Share Posted January 5, 2014 If it isn't the motor you have to suspect the PCB but I wouldn't recommend buying one and fitting it in case it's a weird other fault or something's blown something inside it.
