Sump Connection

Recommended Posts

I removed the sump hose (because it was leaking) from my Hoover A0093 washing machine but stupidly forgot to note how the inside bits fitted together. These consist of an inner cup/hose and a float (a green, light ball). How do they fit? Starting from the top, is it ball, cup, sump hose; or cup, ball, sump hose? And does the cup have the smaller hole at the top or bottom?

Thankyou anybody who replies.

It's amazing how easy it is to forget something which when looking at it seems dead easy to remember, I've done it myself which is why I wrote this tip about taking a photo of parts just the other day.

The ball acts as a float switch. As water first enters the machine it goes into the sump hose and as it rises the ball should float up and seal off the sump hose from the tub. Hopefully you can work it out from that. The larger side of the cup presumably fits the ball perfectly and creates a seal so presumably it wants to be facing the ball?
