Whitegoodshelp (Andy) 197 Report post Posted June 29, 2006 LG washing machine review, model WM14225FD LG are fairly new in the UK washing machine market. They have a reputation for being quiet. LG washing machines look well made. The WM14225FD has a 7.5Kg drum which is very big. If you don’t wash for a family though it is too big, and small loads may not spin if they can’t be balanced – especially items such as jeans, heavy jumpers, towels and sheets. (Related advice: How do I avoid out of balanced loads in my washing machine?) WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT The LG WM14225FD looks good, it plays nice tunes when you turn it on and has a very big drum which (if you utilise it properly) will mean more washing in less loads, which not only saves on water, electricity and detergent, but on wear and tear on the washing machine itself. LG have pioneered the Direct Drive, where instead of a motor connected via a belt to the drum pulley, the motor is built into the drum pulley and turns the drum directly. This is supposed to result in a more stable and much quieter washing machine. The LG washing machine is easy to work on from a repairman;'s point of view and looks like a decent product. WHAT I DISLIKE ABOUT IT The soap dispenser drawer was disappointingly flimsy SUMMARY If a quiet washing machine is high on your priorities then LG’s direct drive is very quiet for the price. It looks a decent washing machine but servicing may not be as easy to obtain as it would be for washing machines that have been made for decades in the UK. Whitegoodshelp (Andy) 197 Report post Posted January 21, 2013 Hello, it just felt flimsy. I've always felt the quality of parts like doors and soap dispensers was a reasonable indicator of the build quality of the washing machine in general including the main parts, so a flimsy door or dispenser puts me off. It's similar to when I get in a car which has a flimsy door. Quote Need an engineer, or to buy appliance spare parts? Please use my affiliate links to support this forum.
