stu-sco
Hi everyone, I have an AEG LAVAMAT 88730-W update washing machine, PNC: 914 002 098 01. It stopped working last week and I called our local appliance repair man to have a look at the unit. He advised me that he has been unsuccessful in sourcing the spare part required for the blown anti-interference suppressor/filter. I contacted the AEG UK parts department and with the PNC and serial numbers they confirmed that the part has been discontinued. The discontinued part number is 8996453283930 which I can’t find in stock anywhere online. Can anyone please advise if I can purchase an alternative suppressor/filter to fit in its place? I was advised on the phone that this was a 2001 model, I can’t believe we have had it that long but I guess it’s quite old, but this is its first fault. Surely it is worth repairing? Many thanks, Stuart.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted September 12, 2013 Root Admin Report Share Posted September 12, 2013 I would ask AEG if they can supply something similar. The suppressor usually only stops interference in other appliances such as radio and TV and has live and neutral in with live and neutral out. In theory any AEG washing machine suppressor ought to be able to do the job. Need a repair or spare parts? stu-sco
Hi, Thanks for the reply. The thing that caused the engineer who came to look at it a problem was that it has 2 cables coming in from the mains and 4 cables coming out the other end. He's only really dealt with 2 in and 2 out. When I searched online with the part number it returned the results suggesting it is a 4 pole suppressor? When I phoned AEG it was just a person searching a database who said it was discontinued, they had no skills to recommend an alternative. Thanks, Stuart. Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted September 13, 2013 Root Admin Report Share Posted September 13, 2013 You should be able to ask to be put through to someone who can give technical support. Most of these front line people just read from charts etc but they should have someone to call on or put you through to when a customer has a more demanding query. Need a repair or spare parts?
