Curious
How do you remove the door hinge assembly for a hoover performa AC110 washing machine? Looks like rivets or something.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted May 13, 2006 Root Admin Report Share Posted May 13, 2006 Some earlier Hoover washing machines had door hinges that were rivetted to the casing, and needed drilling out (new rivets were supplied with the new door hinge) but these later ones should unscrew. They usually have those special star shaped heads now. Once unscrewed the door hinge should lift up and away. Curious
I believe it is rivets on this washing machine as it was bought over 3 years ago. If this is the case if I drill them out then can I add screws and where do i get them from.... I have never messed with a washing machine b4 apart from the pump. Should it be easy enough
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted May 13, 2006 Root Admin Report Share Posted May 13, 2006 If your door hinge is pop rivetted in, then the new door hinge should come with new rivets. The only problem would be if you don't have a pop rivet gun. If you used screws, or a nut and bolt, you'd have to make sure they weren't too long because they may catch on the door seal and hole it. Pop rivets are strongly recommended. Need a repair or spare parts? Book a Repair | Buy appliance spares (Cheapest prices guaranteed) Warning: Read this before attempting any diy repairs.
