geoff1946
I purchased a Miele Washer Dryer WT2780 about a month ago. It has been working fine but after a cotton wash programme, we removed all the laundry except one dressing gown. We then set the machine to do a cotton drying programme. After a while the machine bleeped and gave the message "Fault check drainage system" I checked the pump and filter which were clear (there was about 2 litres of water still in the machine.) Our plumber checked the drain hose for integrity. I then ran a cottons wash programme with no clothes or detergent. It completed the programme without a problem and you could here the water draining out OK. Can anyone explain? Geoff
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted February 8, 2013 Root Admin Report Share Posted February 8, 2013 I would expect if you tried to wash just one dressing gown in most modern washing machines it would refuse to spin at the end, especially if it was cotton. This is because the machine's out of balance protection system would prevent a final spin if it didn't detect a balanced load - and it would be very hard to balance just one item. Having said that I would also expect a washing machine as sophisticated as a Miele would be able to give a proper error message such as "could not balance load". I would try the machine again with a normal full load and see what happens just in case it just didnt cope with the one item. Check out this article about washing machines not spinning small or single item loads http://www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/washing-machine-wont-spin-just-one-item-or-very-small-loads/ Need a repair or spare parts? geoff1946
Andy Thank you for replying. Your explanation sounds very credible. I guess that the machine tried to spin but gave up leaving water inside and it assumed the drain was blocked. I read the user manual carefully and in the fault finding section was "Laundry still damp after a drying programme" Possible cause:- The load was too small for the electronics to assess the residual moisture correctly. In future dry small loads in a timed drying programme Regards Geoff
