washuser
Hallo, I have a washing machine with maximum speed of 1400 rpm. But I am afraid that sometimes the speed is automatically reduced to lower limit. I don´t like this, I want the my washing machine always reaches the maximum speed because I spent a lot of money for it. is there a simple way to measure the speed of the drum? stroboscope light can be a way? I thank you for your help bye
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted January 31, 2013 Root Admin Report Share Posted January 31, 2013 It's most likely because the washing machine isn't balancing the loads well enough to be confident on spin. Most washing machines can tell how balanced a load is and they reduce the spin speed when they don't feel it's a good load as described here (washing machine won't spin small loads at full speed). Many washing machines are overly sensitive, mostly because they just aren't built well enough to withstand a violent out of balance load and would sustain a lot of damage.Try reading this article which has tips about getting well balanced loads and see if it helps.jumps around and bangs on spinSome washing machines also boast a fast spin but only spin at the top speed for a very short time. Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted February 20, 2013 Root Admin Report Share Posted February 20, 2013 Hello washuser: I'm very sceptical to to be honest. I'm amazed why anyone would create such an app, especially at a cost, most people would never be concerned about trying to test exactly how fast their washer is spinning. I find it hard to believe an app could calculate the spin speed of a washing machine through an iPhone by measuring vibration. As far as I know the iPhone measures tilt and shakes not vibration. I'd imagine the algorithms would be very complex, and I'd guess even if it could be done they'd have to calibrate it by putting it on a washing machine where they had used proper methods (such as a tachometer) to ascertain its spin speed and then tell it this is spinning at 1400 rpm, this is spinning at 600 rpm etc, but when you put it on another machine the vibrations would be different. Washing machines vibrate differently, not just across models and brands, but the same washing machine will vibrate totally differently with different loads inside. A cheap washing machine will vibrate a lot and a Miele or other quality washing machine would hardly move. I can't imagine any manufacturer taking it seriously if someone rang in and said my 1400 spin washer is only spinning at 12500 according to this iPhone app. I hope I'm not wrong it looks more like a con to me (no reviews).
