Indesit Washer Wil Not Stop Pumping...

Hello!

Im the "proud" owner of an old Indesit w125tx washing machine.

Until yesterday it worked flawlessly!

Yesterday after the first program it did not drain the water. So it stood there and the pump would not engage. Sure enogh I opened the drain plug by the pump and some coins came out... They had been blocking the pump so it had been working for some while trying to start, but couldent move.

So I closed it again and the pump fired up and emptied the water, so far so good. So i started a new program, water came inn. But when the machine was almost full of water it stopped taking the water inn and the pump started instead. So it emptied all the water, and still pumped when there was no more water. And then the dial starter slowly turning around and around...

I let it sit for a few mintutes, turning and draining nothing... But it just dident work?

Have I damaged the pump in some way, or what? It only seem to be 2 wires going to the pump.

The control knob clicking round means an error has been detected. Read this article to see how to try resetting it or if that doesn't work how to read which error code is being indicated - Program selector knob (dial) clicks round continuously

It's unlikely you'd have damaged the pump, when you say the machine was almost full of water do you mean the water level had almost reached its normal level or had it gone very high up the glass?

Hi. il check those lights.

It seems however that the rubber in the fron of the machine has loosened from the drum itself. Its not straight anymore.

Havent opened it yet, but maybe the fastener/tightener has snapped. Can this cause the problem if some water finds its way in front of the drum

Sometimes the heater and other components are located at the front if the drum under the door seal so it's possible although they should have protection from leaks.

Ok. So iv tried the reset.

When i start it it wil add about an inch of water before it idrains and program selector starts spinning. The light flickers 8 times before a pausr.

Also the gasket seems ok... Was just moved sideeways abit.

Finaly got to a computer(used my phone before)

So as I stated it blinked 8 times, and I found your error guide on the F8/8.

You say its on the back of the machine there is a heater relay. You you mean on the back where the inlet power is so I can open the top? On the low end of the machine so I can acces there. And if so, what should I look for? Or is this so i need to dissasemble the machine and can rather toss it?

Also Iv read it might be the CN1 connector card? is that the same relay, and if not where could I find this?

But I do find it kinda strange that this happened at the same time the pump got stuck...

Il try to fix it since I think its fun. But Iv only worked on dryers before, and those seems a bit more simple since its less water...

The flashing 8 times probably indicates error 8, which is listed as "heater relay stuck" as described in my blog article - Indesit washing machine flashing 8 times or indicating error code 8 The relay is built into the main pcb, they have been known to stick and be freed with a gentle tap but it could just be jammed and need a new pcb. It could also be a problem with the pressure switch, heater & module connections so it's not an easy fault to sort out diy. I certainly wouldn't speculatively buy a new pcb, that could turn out to be a very expensive mistake.

If the fault only happened after you cleared the pump it seems quite a coincidence. If you laid the machine down or worse tipped it upside down you could have caused a problem with water getting into the pressure switch but apart from carefully checking the relevant connections with machine disconnected from the mains of course it's a tricky one to deal with so you may need to get an engineer in.

Wel I did tip it at a 45 degree angle with water in it to acces the pump from below, since it had gotten loose from the front... Could that have done it? And if so where can I find these parts(pressure switch, CN1, relay) to have a check myself?

Tipping it back 45 degrees shouldn't have done anything. There's lots about the pressure switch on these forums if you do a search, the heater relay should be a small block somewhere on the main pcb. The module is another name for the pcb (printed circuit board) somewhere in the base.

Great. Il empty out the water abn put it on its side then. I might just get lucky :-)

Someone in indesit told me to check for blockade to the preasure switch, since the pump was blocked. Do they mean above the pump where there normaly is a ball that stops the water?

Wel I went over there now and tried.

So I opened the top and found the pressure switch with the tube on it. Blowed in the relay itself and heard the click, then in the tube and there was no resistance.

So I put it on its side and removed the pump, flushed the hose and removed the whole rubber connection to the drum and pressure switch tube and gave it a good clean. I then put everything together and gave the mainboard covered with white plastic a few knocks. Then i started up the machine. Tickticktick, no dice...

So I was ready to put it in the garbage when I noticed the main connection to the board was white plastic and almost looked like a blue electric flash in the connector. So i used a crewdriver to pry it of, used a hardryer to remove dust and rust and sprayed the male connector with WD-40 before I put it back.

Started the machine and it took in more water then usual, but then started draining again... But suddenly it stopped, and started cleaning. So I set the program on drain, and after that started a new program, and behold it worked...!

I have no idea why. Maybe the connector was bad, maybe the relay needed that to get loose. But it works for maybe a day maybe a year.

If the heater relay is "stuck" then it may have freed off but it may stick again. Engineers sometimes tap the heater relay on the pcb to try and free it, which sometimes works but if it keeps sticking the pcb would need replacing. Maybe the heat from the dryer freed it off?

Not sure, but anyway yhe next day it was back to the same old... So Iv thinking that it might have served it purpose.
