Spree
Hi all,We are having a bit of a problem with our washer, it is a VHD842 and is only a couple of years old. I'm not entirely familiar with washers (i'm writing this on behalf of my parents) so please do excuse any terminology that may be incorrect, ok so the problem is as follows:The washing machines spins at the start and takes in the washing powder, but when it is time to take in the softener, it doesn't. The softer remains in the drawer. We've tried it numerous times and the same problem occurs. We have tried various time limits e.g half an hour and an hour, but the problem persists.Another few issues we have noticed also are that the washer now no longer spin dries and the time saver light flashes repeatedly, all these issues i have been told have started at the same time.Another issue we have noticed is that the filter flap at the bottom of the washing machine is filled with more water than normal. Although i stress that we do not know if this problem is related to the above problem. We do not open this flap on a regular basis so we are not entirely sure when this issue may have started.Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? We really don't want to go out and spend a load on a new washer or even parts for this washer. My dad is a bit of a handyman, so if it is possible to fix on our own then that would be great, if not, then so be it we'll go get a new washer. All help much appreciated. Thanks

Spree
Check out this article Fabric conditioner doesn't get taken into washing machine It could have a fault causing it to abort the programme before it gets to taking the fabric conditioner in. Make sure the pump filter isn't blocked too - How do I clean my pump filter - where is the pump filter? Hi mate, thanks for the reply. My dad has checked the pump filter, we have read the above links provided and checked the pump filter thoroughly, its working as it should do,there is no blockage but once we open the flap there is some water leakage. And sorry about this (I was not told of this problem earlier), but another issue is that the washer does not spin properly it is time for it to spin dry. When washing the clothes it spins at the pace it should do, but when it is time to spin dry, the water is drained but it does not begin to spin again to dry the clothes. In addition to this the time saver light begins to to flash. Thanks again for the help mate, very much appreciated!
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted September 29, 2012 Root Admin Report Share Posted September 29, 2012 Is the light flashing a set number of times, Pausing for 1 second and then repeating, or is it just flashing continuously? Error codes are usually indicated with set numbers of flashes. Need a repair or spare parts? This sequence continues until we switch it off.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted September 30, 2012 Root Admin Report Share Posted September 30, 2012 Error code 3 on Hoover usually means it's timed out on empty. So it is either not draining out the water fast enough or it is but the pressure system is not giving the signal that the water has gone and it's safe to spin. There will always be some water in the pump filter, if there's still washing inside that hasn't spun it would be a fair amount. If the washer has no laundry inside and has drained properly it's usually about a cupful or two. If it's pumping the water out ok it may be a problem with the pressure switch or a blockage in the pressure system. Need a repair or spare parts?
