Hotpoint Aquarius Door Interlock

hello, my hotpoint aquarius WMF940 door will not lock. It just clicks repeatedly. I have replaced the door interlock device but has made no difference. The door interlock just clicks repeatedly. Anybody any ideas?? I need help!!

PS: i have already tried several trouble shooting websites.

Is everything ok with the actual door catch on the door? Is it in place, undamaged and is the spring holding it in place?

yes, the door mechanism is fine. the door is closing and latching.

You can get strange symptoms with earth faults on washing machines these days, but haven't come across this one.

i don't know a lot about electrics. i was thinking it might be the control module but they are expensive and as far as im aware they don't come programmed, so that would cost extra again. Just need to be sure there's nothing else i could try before spending a fortune.

The door interlock is normally just a bi-metal device which is two strips of metal that bend at different temperatures. A coil wrapped round it is energised and the metal strip bends making a physical connection. A continuous clicking sounds more like a relay.
