I recently purchased a Beko Washing Machine WMB61221W and when I used it for the first time I decided to use the 'prewash' button. The machine filled with water and then started the cycle. The machine then seemed to keep washing the clothes, no rinse, no spin, nothing apart from the drum moving around both ways.

I have looked at the manual about cancelling the programme and all it does is continue what it was doing before. I called Beko customer service and they thought that it was the sensors saying that the load may be one sided and the programme was just repeating itself. Can anyone shed any light what the problem maybe?

If a modern washing machine can't balance the load it will refuse to spin. Many of them can try for some time to balance them before giving up. Washing machine wont spin just one item or very small loads

Having said that I wouldn't expect you to be unable to cancel the programme. I'm not even sure it would even need to spin after pre-wash as the point is to just do a quick pre wash before setting a proper wash programme. Also, it should only try for so long before just giving up and it shouldn't be a ridiculous amount of time, maybe 10 mins or so?

I presume by now you've got an update on what happened?
