Hi, thank you for reading this post and I appreciate any help.

Machine WFR 2860 works normally, washes, drum turns fine on all cycles except the rinse or spin cycle where it will no longer spin up to a reasonable speed. Starts to spin and then just stops and finishes cycle. I don't get any error messages. I've tried more/less/nothing in the machine and it makes no difference.

I am told this is the contol unit and will cost at least £250 to repair so I should buy another machine.

I'd like to exhaust the options for fixing it first.

Is the control unit the same as the pcb?

Will the machine have multiple pcb's or control units?

Is it possible for me to easily remove the pcb and use QER http://www.qer.biz/ to get the pcb fixed?

Am I being a bit mad in thinking about even going down this route?

Claire.

There can be more than one pcb but only one control pcb. Sometimes the control panel is a pcb which communicates with the main one (usually) down at the bottom of the machine to one side. It should be easy enough to remove but you need to leave it unplugged for several minutes first as some machines can hold a charge. Also you'd need to video all the connections or otherwise record them. It's amazing how many people don't bother because they think they'll remember but don't and some can even be badly designed so that connectors can fit more than one way. QER should be able to test it and have reasonable prices but it's a long drawn out process on a vital machine.

Can you still get a shock from a machine if it's turned off and unplugged?
