Hello.
I have a Hotpoint BHWD129 washer dryer, about a month ago there was a loud bang from the washer during the spin cycle, then it came to a sudden stop.
I pulled the washer out to find the motor spindle which is sited near the lower right side on the rear had punctured through the metal back plate, thus shredding the belt. At the time I suspected overloading and warned wifey of further problems if overloading, (I got reply, well you do the washing then tongue.gif ).
Anyway I replaced the belt and all has been ok, then yesterday the same thing has happened, this time though I was in to witness it, I took out the load which was not excessive.
Could there be something else wrong which I have overlooked originally. BTW, the springs that hold the drum seem ok and the drum looks well balanced, there is no normal knocking during the cycles, it's as though the machine just seemed to suddenly throw a wobbly.
Regards.

Hotpoint washing machines often had problems with the top tub springs breaking that hold the tub central on the bottom springs or suspension. There is one at the front and one at the back and if one snaps the tub will be pulled either to the front or the back causing problems. If both springs are in place and seem to be holding the tub centrally you would have to suspect a suspension fault. Maybe under load it's twisting?
