cozzie
Hi, I am about to buy a washer dryer to replace my old washing machine and tumble dryer because of lack of space. I have narrowed it down to either the Hotpoint CTD 80P or the Hoover 7166 or 7148. Does anyone have any of these machines who could give some feedback or maybe general advice about either brand? Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted July 11, 2007 Root Admin Report Share Posted July 11, 2007 The Hotpoint CTD 80P is a condensor tumble dryer. I came across a lot of these dryers that kept breaking down due to the stats going open circuit. This was about 18 months ago so they may have sorted it by now but it was a big problem. I had many who had the same fault over and over but Hotpoint (as they often do) just blamed the users. Eventually (as they often do) they modified the design. The Hoover washer dryer used to have a problem with a small hose at the back that got clogged up with fluff from the condenser very easily and caused the dryer TOC to trip out. Again this was about 18 months ago so (hopefully) they may have modified it by now. If forced to chose between these two makes I would go for the Hoover. Need a repair or spare parts? cozzie
Thanks for the speedy reply. I was leaning towards the Hoover as I had read a few bad reviews about Hotpoint machines.
