Curious Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I have the error E30 on our Hotpoint washing machine. The instruction book says e30 = motor error, but checking on the 'net I found it could be something as simple as the brushes, or as baffling as the triacs?? Any thoughts? Great site by the way.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp Posted May 24, 2006 Root Admin Posted May 24, 2006 Thanks for you comments about my site. Error 30 (on Hotpoint) just means the motor isn't working. Several things, including the power module, can cause this. The most common cause though is worn carbon brushes. There is also a 7.5 amp fuse on or near the power module, which can blow. This fuse is on the motor circuit to protect the circuitry of the power module. If it blows, then the motor won't work and you will get error 30. If it has blown, it's likely to be caused by the motor. I had one last week where the armature in the motor had shorted to earth which blew the 7.5 Amp fuse. To check the brushes, with the machine unplugged! Have a look at my Hotpoint and Creda carbon brushes diagnostics You can also Buy Hotpoint & Creda carbon brushes Need a repair or spare parts? Curious Posted May 24, 2006 Author Posted May 24, 2006 Thanks for your help. It turned out to be a connector which had shaken loose, right on top of the washing machine. Now cable tied - we live to wash again! Thanks again!
