I have a Hoover HWB 49AMBCR/1-80 the Wifi model and was happy with it :)

However now it seems to have a mind of its own.. when I select Fitness via the dial it goes to it and then moves to random other programmes while beeping.. sometimes it stops on Fitness and sometimes it does not..

Any thoughts please??

Cheers

Andy

Hello Andy. Sorry I don't understand what you mean when you say fitness? Is that a wash cycle? It would be a very strange name for a wash cycle.

Has a very strange name for the wash cycle. Presumably it's for sportswear? Unfortunately it's difficult to diagnose this type of fault. I do have an article about a similar problem on an older Hoover washing machine range which may or may not be of help - Program selector dial keeps clicking round

Yeah sportswear etc. I am trying to figure out if I changed the PCB would it sort it..

I think there is a single PCB on this model and I can get one and then just figure out how to change it, just how to fit it..

Cheers

Hi. I would definitely not replace the PCB. They are expensive, and non-returnable once fitted. There's no guarantee it will fix the fault. As my article points out there are several possible causes for it including faults on other components.

When it goes to random other programs what does it do? Does it actually run those programs?

aha ok, yes it beeps, as it does when you change to a programme, and runs that programme so the time etc all changes so you might put it on a wash for 30 mins and then all of a sudden it is a 2 hour wash! :(

When that happens, have you tried resetting the program's or cancelling and trying again? Does it have dots you turn it to for a stop position?

it just goes back again some times it is via the dial on the front.

Yes it has a stop at the top as in the picture below.

There could be a fault causing the behaviour, though some Hoover washing machines reset when you turn them to off. Also check the instruction manual for a reset or cancel cycle procedure in case you can cancel/reset and then select the correct cycle. If it persists you may need an engineer. I don't think this behaviour is listed on the Hoover website that describes errors for this model.
