Hiily Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Hi, hope someone can help. I’m trying to replace the detergent housing on my Beko WMI71641. I ordered the part that Beko themselves have directed me to, but when the part arrived it was clear there is a hole in the side of the unit. Please see photograph where I have circled the hole. Does anyone know what this hole is for and whether I’d be able to install this unit without any issues? I’m worried that water could escape from the hole. Many thanks Dan
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp Posted November 6, 2024 Root Admin Posted November 6, 2024 Hi. I presume you have contacted Beko and are awaiting their reply? It looks very strange and quite a large hole. I just entered your model number on an appliance spares site, and it doesn't seem to have the hole. The only thing I could imagine a hole could be for is to allow steam to vent out, but this appears crude to say the least. It isn't the shape that would allow a hose to connect to either, so it does appear to be designed to just be a hole in the side. Presumably water will not leak out of this hole and the extended piece at the bottom may be to allow water to splash into but go back into the dispenser. Water going down the soap dispenser drawer should just run straight down the back of it into a hose. If it says that it fits your model then hopefully it is correct, but obviously if you fit it I would keep a close eye on it while testing first. Need a repair or spare parts? Hiily Posted November 6, 2024 Author Posted November 6, 2024 I went ahead and installed the part. Tested a few times and no leaks present. I think you’re right in that it must be a steam vent. Thank you very much Andy! Whitegoodshelp 1
