So this morning my Bosch WFL 2862 washing machine stopped spinning and after some google research this would probably be the carbon brushes that are worn. Took them out and there was little left on them. So I bought some new ones(oem 00154740) and fitted them one.

Turned it on and set it to lowest rpm 800 and let it spin. It worked for a few seconds but them I heard a pop noise and it turned off all together. Now it won't even turn on any more...

I checked if the brushed were still in and they were. Didn't see any other strange damage.

I did not remove the motor will doing this btw. Is it toast?

The motor may have shorted out. Either the brushes were not fitted properly and maybe part of the brass touched the commutator, or possibly the armature is faulty, or there's an insulation fault on it. The latter would need a specialist insulation test meter to check.

Sometimes when brushes wear out there's a lot of carbon dust deposited inside the motor that can cause low insulation.

I just removed the brushes again and one of the connectors(of the brush) came lose or was already lose. But this wouldnt cause it to not turn on right?

I guess its not worth it on this machine to get it repaired considering the cost?

If by any chance the wire touched anything and shorted out it would blow the fuse. Has the fuse blown? Otherwise if the wire was not connected I'd expect everything to work except the motor.

To be honest I don't know much about these repairs... but it did sound as if the fuse was blown.

Not sure where I can find the fuse(s?).

There's only a fuse in the plug on a washing machine.
