During a washing cycle yesterday I heard a loud noise and opened the lid to see that the agitator stopped moving.

Looks like the agitator dogs are in working condition still (see pic attached), so I don't think there's an issue with them getting the grip needed to turn the shaft.

is this likely the motor? I'm thinking it might be considering the loud noise.

The washer still drains.

Hi. Sorry it’s a UK washing machine forum and we don’t have those type of washing machines here I don’t think. I’ve never worked in them.

Having said that it could be the motor but my understanding is that the motor turns the drum on those top loaders via some gearing? So gear problems could account for it too.

I just got done doing some intense Googling and YouTube'ing 😄 I'm fairly convinced I need a new motor coupler.  The loud noise it suddenly made when it stopped agitating indicated to me that it was the motor or something close to it.
