Hi. It sounds like the motor. Could the motor be catching on the back of the casing? To troubleshoot a noise, you have to pull it out and literally listen to where the noise is coming from with the lid and back off. Also, does it make the noise when you turn the drum by hand?

Hi Andy.

Thanks for the quick reply. I removed the lid yesterday and saw nothing wrong. The noise doesn't happen when I put the machine on a simple spin and drain cycle. So I ruled out the drain-pump, drum and motor. The sound seemed to be coming from the area behind the detergent drawer. Since all of this, and having removed the machine's lid. The noise has gone. We have put the machine through two full cycles on number three (Cotton) and not heard the sound once? I don't know whether pulling the washing machine out and removing the lid has dislodged anything that could have been rubbing or got trapped for some reason.

I'll report back if the noise returns.

Thanks again for replying

Regards

Jason.

Thanks for the update. I’ve assumed that the noise only occurred when the drum was turning. If it was still there when the drum stopped turning then the noise will have been coming from the water pump.

The noise was also similar to something catching on the pump impeller.
