hi

I have a Hotpoint wml520 aquarius washing machine. It has just stopped mid cycle after making an odd noise and the drum will now no longer turn. i have taken the back off to have a look and the motor and belt appear to be working ok but when the belt tries to turn the drum it cannot move it as for some reason it is completely stuck. I believe that normally the drum should be able to be turned freely. The wheel on the back of the drum which the belt fits around can only be moved about 1 or 2 mm.

Can anyone advise please?

Many thanks for any help

Hello. Have you taken off the drive belt to determine if it is the motor or the drum that seized up? If the drive belt is still attached but it's very stiff to turn it could be either. If it is the drum and the washing machine has been very noisy for some time then the bearings may have seized up or alternatively they could be something jammed inside there.
