Item lost in washing machine

Hi all!

I have a WDL520 Aquarius washing machine, and I fear there may be a ring lost inside! At the bottom of the machine, I take the cover off, and there's a kind of circular red seal and I'm pretty sure the ring will be in there. Problem is, I don't know how it comes off! I can't twist if off and there's nowhere to put a screwdriver in. It also has a hand symbol with an arrow over it, so perhaps it's not even safe to open?

Any help would be appreciated!
