ISE washing machine ring of rubber fell out

 

My ise machine (ISEW1607W) is 9 years old and has been magnificent all that time.

However today, I opened the door of the front loader and a long ring of rubber fell out around the door. It is not the door seal which is still in place and is any much larger than the circumference of the door. It seems to be (forgive me if I don't know the jargon) something that is a buffer between the drum and the front of the machine but it is not clear which way round to try and put it back on or what would hold it in place andhow to get it back into place anyhow.
