What is this object

This seems to have fallen off my machine, any ideas what its function is/where it goes? Cant upload picture but its circular and about 1inch -1.5 inch tall and goes to a bottle neck with a hole through the centre and inverted cogs

Looks like part of the transit packing. Are there corresponding holes in the back of the machine where it would fit? There are usually 3.
