Hello,

I've got a Hoover DXOA410C3 which is about 2 months old now, and I've noticed it makes quite a loud whining noise when you turn the drum (by hand or when the motor turns it). Maybe it's normal (normally the machine is on overnight so I don't hear it), but I wanted to get another opinion! Obviously it's still under warranty and everything, but it would be embarrassing to call someone out and be told everything's fine :D

Video of the noise: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tph9brqfakieas7/IMG_2925.mov?dl=0

Thanks

Hello. Don’t leave the washing machine on overnight. It’s too risky. Far too many have caught fire, flooded and even exploded - Is it safe to leave washing machine on?

Regarding the noise that’s very noisy. The motor sounds really noisy. It’s the carbon brushes making that noise. They can make that noise when new but it should quickly quieten down after being used several times.

Thanks Andy - never really thought about a washing machine being dangerous (never leave the dryer on though). Good to know!

I'll keep an ear out for it, hopefully it quietens down soon then. Think my previous one must have had an inverter motor, so was much quieter!

Yes the inversion motors are totally silent during wash and rinse. It’s difficult to judge just how noisy a washing machine is from a recording as the devices usually have automatic level control that amps up the sound to a set level.

Hello - I have exactly the same noise as above and was wondering if it ever did get better?

First couple of washes were very quite, but on about number 3 - this noise appeared - also on a hoover machine. Doesnt appear to be affecting usage, just sounds not quite right!
