James Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Hi, I have a faulty temp button on my LG washer dryer. I have taken the plastic cover off and had a look at the PCU. The button will work if u press it in fully but the touch aspect doesn't work, meaning it wont work through the plastic front panel. I have spoken to LG and they weren't very helpful. Looking at the button compared to the others, it looks as though the "tape" across the front is maybe water damaged, its a slightly different colour. I realise i can get a new PCU but they aren't cheap. Is it possible to repair the touch aspect of the button or replace this? Thanks
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp Posted September 7, 2019 Root Admin Posted September 7, 2019 Hi. Do you mean the control panel? There won’t be any parts available for the PCB or control panel if the button is part of the control panel board. That’s the problem, no parts no repair. Apart from trying some wd-40 on it I can’t suggest anything. Need a repair or spare parts? Book a Repair | Spares4Appliances WARNING: Read this before attempting any diy repairs. James Posted September 8, 2019 Author Posted September 8, 2019 Hi, Thanks for your reply. The button is part of the control board and its touch sensitive, which is the bit which doesn't work anymore. The tape across the front of the button which must give it its touch feature looks damaged. I hadn't seen any spare parts but thought i would ask. The button will push in and will change the temp but only when the plastic front cover is removed. The front cover doesn't allow for the button to be pressed inwards as its solid plastic and works off touch. The cost of a new board to around £140 and i didn't really want to be forking out that much.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp Posted September 9, 2019 Root Admin Posted September 9, 2019 Those little built in push buttons can definitely go faulty so they don't work properly. It's ludicrous that it costs so much for a printed circuit board. I would assume that hopefully you can still use the machine, it wouldn't be worth spending that much on it. James Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 Thanks for your help. Luckily it still can be used as its just the temp button and not any other. The cost of a board is stupid and they are very hard to find, so theres no offers anywhere. Ill keep a look out for a used part on ebay. Thanks again Whitegoodshelp 1
