Hotpoint wont perform final spin .

Please help ! .

So I have a Hotpoint fml462 9kg washing machine 18 months old  , As of last week it has stopped going into the final spin . IT fills with water , washes , drains ,rinses , drains and then goes back to wash instead of going in to the final spin setting before ending  , however if I put the dial to the spin setting it will do it . 

Have checked the filter which is clear and the drain hose which again is clear ... have run on empty and drains quickly .. I'm stuck and as a family of 6 am lost without my machine so need to get fixed asap , as dont want to use incase causes and further damage . 

Any ideas on what the cause could be ?
