I have a Beko front loading machine and for the past week when the machine has been spinning, it has been making a noise as if there is a piece of plastic tapping on the drum as it spins round. Obviously, the faster the spin, the louder the noise. Today, the machine drum stopped turning. I thought that maybe there was something in the filter, so I removed the front of the filter and there was nothing, nor in the tubes that lead to/from it. The propeller moved normally and the machine drains.

When I put it on a wash, the machine now fills up a bit, does nothing for a while and then drains. It repeats this a few times.

If I put it on a spin, it obviously doesn't spin because the drum isn't turning, but it drains a bit, does nothing for a while, then drains a bit more.

I opened the rear of the machine to see if there was a problem with the belt and there wasn't. Turning the drum via the belt works but there is a point at which it makes a scratching noise while it is turning. Presumably this is the same noise that was causing the problem above. Turning the drum inside the machine manually works fine too.

However, I have noticed that not only is the machine drum not turning, but it is not heating up either. It just fills with water and drains.

Does anyone have an idea of what could have caused these problems?

Thanks.

Hello. Tapping or scraping noise during spin is commonly caused by either the drum hitting the heating element or the underwire from a bra caught inside the drum. Check this article after the header, tapping noise on spin and the following one, scraping noise for more details More causes of a noisy washing machine
