hotpoint WMEF722 Keeps showing 3..2..1 then switching off mid cycle

My WMEF722 7kg washing machine keeps switching off mid cycle. The LCD display  counts down 3..2..1 then switches off completely. Does anyone have a rough idea what could be causing the problem? or is it time for a new machine ! I hope not. Thanks in advance.
