I have a Bosch Exxcel WVD24520GB washer dryer. It's over 7 years old and get's used about once every other day.

Over the last couple of days it been getting to the end of it's wash cycle (timer down to 1) and just carries on and won't go on to drain or spin.

If I advance the knob to drain it drains and to spin it spins.

From what I've googled it sounds like the heater so I'm gong to try a hot wash and feel the window to see if it's heating up and I've also read that I can try leaving it on to see if it stops eventually.

There are no error warnings.

I'd value any opinions e.g. might it be the heater, is that expensive to fix, is it time to give up and move on etc?

Thanks everyone.

I ran the hot wash and the door is cold to the touch so I guess I need a new heater.

Now, the question is, is that expensive and is it worth repairing my (otherwise very reliable) bosch or should I replace it?

An open circuit heating element can definitely cause the bizarre stuck on last minute symptom. Heaters aren't expensive but could be tricky to fit one yourself depending on you and where it's fitted. Read my article here for further help - not heating water

I have this same problem with my Bosch machine. The washing machine stays on the wash cycle but the timer continues to count down. I have to intercept and put it on a rinse and spin and that works fine. This appears to happen on all programmes except for the 60 cottons wash, this runs through as normal. Any ideas as to what would cause this, gratefully received.
