Hoover Hnwl 7146-80 - Wont Heat Up Water

I'm now convinced our Hoover HNWL 7146-80 (washer Dryer) - wont heat up water - and im beginning to think it never has done since day it was bought.

While putting on a new door seal I decided to test my suspicions about the lack of hot water in the tub

I have now had the machine on a number of hot washes but never get a live & neutral to the heater

And never get a live at what I assume is the thermostat that's positioned on the back of the drum housing

I have tried a variety of programmes but still no warmth in the tub

Any suggestions welcome

Normally if a washer isn't heating the water it should produce an error code as described in my article but there are anomalies - also described.

thanks Andy - I have read it but nothing there that helps.

The fact there is no LIVE to the thermostat OR the heater at any time makes me think something is telling it "not to heat" - In this model there is a variable temp dial

I will set it on a wash tomorrow and have another go

OK, the article is designed to so that if it doesn't help - you need an engineer One thing that could prevent any heat at all would be if by any chance the variable temperature dial had a no heat setting and it was either faulty or somehow set to 0 but appearing set to a temperature. But that sounds a weird one. Could be a fault on the pcb but risky speculatively changing one. In most circumstances if the washer doesn't detect a rise in temperature over a several minute period it knows it isn't heating and generates an error cod, usually will even abort the wash. There are anomalies though such as one described in a forum discussion where it was a dodgy connection on the thermistor (linked to in my article).

I have no idea why, but my heating element gets its power through the pressure switch. There are about 6 wires

on my pressure switch in all, one seems to be a power source coming in, and one wire goes directly to the heater.

Perhaps it's to prevent the heater being on when no water is in the drum?

The pressure switch is on my radar

Next time I have a few hours I will haul the machine out and test it for switching during a cycle
