Starts To Fill But Then Nothing Happens - Sometimes Get Flashing Lights

Got a Hotpoint vision hd model vhd842. Machine starts to fill but then nothing happens and although I can get the machine to finally drain following power off and on. Same thing happens next time I run program. Apparently machine was struggling with spins and a burning smell has been reported by my wife. Whilst trying to get machine to drain I sometimes get flashing lights on timer saver/sensitive care/stain blaster and 15' led. Any help gratefully received!

Burning smell could be pump, motor or a few other things, you;d need to locate with nose and looking for something burning.
