my prob is that iv eventually removed the bearings from the outer rear tub which actually fell out disentagrated but will new bearing be okay fitting in this .ill post pic as looks a bit pitted advice ty .

All of the drum bearing would need to be removed, and it can be very difficult or even impossible without a bearing removal special tool which costs a fortune. These plastic drums have recesses in them which means when the bearings are originally pressed in they buffer up to a small ledge which is inaccessible from the back to knock back out. There is often just a millimetre showing, and it can be a nightmare to bash the bearing's outer race out with a hammer and punch because the punch just slips off. It can be done with the right tools but you can end up bashing and cutting your hand to bits as you whack it and it just slips.

When the bearing is still complete it's a bit easier but when it's collapsed it's a complete nightmare and I've given up a lot of times in the past. Another problem is, when the bearing has collapsed like this there is often damage to the drum shaft too, which may also need replacing.

holy smoke i thought it had all been removed and i was looking at the actual tub sleeve were new bearing would fit .

and thats a defo i do need new 30 mm spider as the one ive got is damaged if possible could a member point out what part i havent removed as stated thought id removed all traces of old bearing but seems i havent.

That drum spider is definitely badly damaged. When the front drum bearing collapses it usually leaves the outer race in the drum. If you've got that out then that should be all the bearing, but to get it out you'd have to bash it out with great effort and when they've collapsed and rusted in like that it's usually impossible. To be honest the drum looks pretty knackered. I would normally scrap a washing machine where the drum bearings have been running noisy for so long and collapsed causing so much damage.

I would seriously consider either scrapping it or fitting a complete rear tub half with bearings already fitted as well as a new spider if the cost isn't too high, there are two types of drum - http://www.4washerhelp.co.uk/search.pl?query=Wma40S+drum

thankyou mate for ure reply after working out the £ in repaires its not viable as i was willing to go £50 pounds for kit spider bearings etc but as i have never done the bearings before .and by god ill know the next time when they need done etc lesson learned.

so my next option is a better one buy the same model roughly between £80-100 from gumtree or similar. .plus ill have a load of spares for future ,motor ,door rubber, etc so again cheers for your help and a very good quality site..
