Hotpoint Washing Machine Aq113D 697E Program Selector Knob Problem

After doing a short 30min wash which had finished I tried to turn the programme selector knob to spin, and although it turns none of the pictures around it light up and I therefore cannot select a programme. Other lights on the control panel remain on and seem to be functioning normally. I tried turning off the power for a short while and trying again, but it hasn't fixed the problem. Please help!

For anyone reading this and having the same problem I got an engineer to come out, he unscrewed the panel and he discovered that the post that held the knob in place had snapped. He applied a blob of superglue and hey presto everything is back to normal.
