  1. Hi all, We are having a bit of a problem with our washer, it is a VHD842 and is only a couple of years old. I'm not entirely familiar with washers (i'm writing this on behalf of my parents) so please do excuse any terminology that may be incorrect, ok so the problem is as follows: The washing machines spins at the start and takes in the washing powder, but when it is time to take in the softener, it doesn't. The softer remains in the drawer. We've tried it numerous times and the same problem occurs. We have tried various time limits e.g half an hour and an hour, but the problem persists. Another few issues we have noticed also are that the washer now no longer spin dries and the time saver light flashes repeatedly, all these issues i have been told have started at the same time. Another issue we have noticed is that the filter flap at the bottom of the washing machine is filled with more water than normal. Although i stress that we do not know if this problem is related to the above problem. We do not open this flap on a regular basis so we are not entirely sure when this issue may have started. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? We really don't want to go out and spend a load on a new washer or even parts for this washer. My dad is a bit of a handyman, so if it is possible to fix on our own then that would be great, if not, then so be it we'll go get a new washer. All help much appreciated. Thanks
