Hi,

I'm looking to buy a freestanding silver coloured washing machine costing around £300. I thought I'd made my decision today in Currys - they have a Bosch WAE2416SG for £329.95 which looks pretty good for my needs. I came home to compare the price online and have found what I thought was the same machine on several different sites for a cheaper price, but on closer inspection I've noticed slight differences in the model numbers. I've now found WAE2416S, WAE2416SG and WAE2416SGB. All seem similar, but are they the same? And if they're not does anyone know what the differences might be?!

Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Also, if you can recommend an alternative (better) machine than this altogether I'd be grateful for your advice!

Debbie

Apologies Debbie, I had a problem with email delivery to one of my addresses and didn't receive notification of this topic. It's probably too late now, but I don't think there's any difference.

I found one company quoting model number WAE2416S but in small print under the price it showed "cat no - WAE2416SGB". I think they are just missing off the GB, which I would assume stands for Great Britain.

Normally, if there are washing machines with the exact same model number apart from one or two letters at the end you can usually be assured that the washing machines are almost definitely the same inside. There's a possibility that one of the letters denotes colour (e.g. W for white and S for silver). A more remote possibility can be that one of the versions may have the odd extra feature but this is rare as they usually give washing machines with any extra feature a different model number altogether.
