I have recently had an integrated machine installed (a Zanussi Z716WT83BI Washer Dryer). The installer has continued the kitchen skirting around the front of the machine. According to the diagrams in the user manual, this obscures the pump and it's filter from being accessed. Am I being stupid, or is this the case? Has the installer made a mistake which means I can't access the pump and filter to clean it?

Hi. Yes you need access to the pump filter. You also need to be able to pull the washing machine out. However, the kickstrip should only be clipped in place and should be able to be pulled away from the kitchen units. It may come away in one large piece.

Hi Andy, Thanks for your help! I'll have a look and see if it can be removed as one big piece. If not, I think I'll have to get in touch with the installer.

No problem. The kick strip plinth in a kitchen usually has several clips at the back. These clips push onto the feet of the units. The kick strip plinth has to be installed so that it can be easily removed otherwise it is not installed properly. Quite apart from being able to access the pump filter the washing machine clearly will need to come out to be serviced and repaired, or even replaced. Just start gently trying to pull it away. Obviously have a look for some screws first in case it is screwed in place instead, or as well.
