Though I pay an insurance on the washing machine, apparently it does not cover the rubber seal which is black with mould. I use a washing machine service wash product on a regular basis, but it did not touch the mould building up inside the seal. Can anyone give me any tips on how to get rid of it, Ive used plenty of elbow grease, magic erasers and other products. I have contacted Indesit and apparently if this was effecting the wash I would be covered by the insurance, but because it is cosmetic thats it.....I wonder do I cancel the insurance.

Yes problems with a door seal related to wear and tear, or external things like mould wouldn't be covered on any insurance policy. The problem is that the black mould id caused by environmental conditions or the way the washing machine has been used - What causes black mould on washing machines?

A few note worthy points:

- use biological washing powder, not liquid
- don't shut the door on the machine when it's not in use
- don't leave damp washing in the machine for long periods of time
- use hot cycles (60 degrees +) on a regular basis for washing whites, bedding and towels. Not only will this give you better washing results, it will help keep your machine clean.

My washer is 6 years old and doesn't have a spec of mold on it.
