This forum is to discuss
any general washing machine subjects not covered elsewhere on the Washerhelp forums. It
can't be used for repair help on fixing specific washing machine faults. I fully appreciate how useful a repair forum would be and I regret not being able to help more in this area. I did run some (now archived) repair forums for several months. The problems I found were -
- It's simply too big a commitment for one person. I felt obliged to constantly check for new posts (even late at night and bank holidays) because people were relying on a prompt reply as the situation was often urgent.
- The process was often long and protracted, with my first post commonly asking for better details. A thread could take several days and still not be resolved due to the very difficult task of trying to diagnose a fault on a forum
- There are just too many people wanting advice on washing machine repairs and to try to deal with them would literally be a full time job on its own.
An alternative option would be to open up a forum for members to help each other. The problem with that is that advice would vary from very helpful to useless and even dangerous. I wouldn’t be happy to have potential well meaning but bad advice on Washerhelp, and would end up stepping in and having to keep a close eye on it. I'd then be back to having a repair forum.
Thanks for your understanding on this matter. Here is the advice already available on Washerhelp
