Washing Cycle Times

Hello,

I would appreciate some advice on "standard" if that exists cycle timings for washing machines. I'm going to replace my timer with a PLC for a number of reasons but mainly because I'd like much more control over the timing of the wash cycles.

What I'm hoping to get is a starting point, that I can then modify. I have an old Whirlpool Estate machine if that makes much difference. I'd be happy to share the PLC data, wiring diagrams and the control logic with the group when I'm done.

Wash times are long these days for a variety of reasons explained in this topic - Why does washing machine take so long? The public hate this en masse. But they are designed to take the length of time they do in order to achieve certain wash results and eco-friendly objectives and achieve reasonable rinsing in current conditions and with current detergents and with lower water usage. I would expect shortening wash times is likely to result in poorer wash results.
