Connecting Or Extending Waste Pipe

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

We have just replaced our Whirlpool washing machine with our hotpoint machine and have found that the waste pipe, which connected from the waste to the back of the old machine has the same size end as the pipe sticking out of our the new one, which comes from the back of the machine, meaning we cannot connect them together. We can't just use the old one to connect to the back as it's not long enough to reach the new machine. I'm sure we're missing something obviuous here but has anyone any ideas what we need to connect them together? Hope this is clear. Thanks

It sounds like there was a drain hose connector on the end of the old drain hose which you need to join the two hoses together. If you can't retrieve it you might be able to buy one from a large DIY store like B&Q or online. Alternatively if the problem is just that the new hose is too short you'll need to buy a drain hose extension kit or an extra long drain hose to replace the one on the the washer (as a last resort).
