Ariel Washing Powder Dose Size, Box Vs Website?

Recommended Posts

I bought some Ariel powder and according to the box dosing guide for me it`s normal wash and soft water, so the does is 95ml , my drum is 8kg so add an extra 40ml = 135ml

Now the Ariel website recommends 195ml , the website is buggy as hell and keeps crashing in firefox and IE 9.0

So which is right as i don't want to use to much powder and waste money.

Yes the tool doesn't work for me either (in Firefox 4).

Many would say they want us to use more detergent so they can make more profit. Clearly they will want us to use enough to ensure good results or we may go elsewhere if dissatisfied. But if you use too much it's likely to over foam and reduce washing efficiency by cushioning the laundry from the necessary rubbing action against each other and also reducing rinsing efficiency, so they shouldn't want us to use too much.

Maybe the sensible approach would be to assume they advice a little more than strictly necessary, but not much. People claiming you can use less than half are wrong as not using enough can cause a damaging build up of limescale, gunge, grease and slime inside the washing machine that can shorten its life or cause repairs to be needed. It's possible to get reasonable wash results using a lot less detergent but to still have damaging consequenses inside the washing machine that can take years to take effect.

Here are a few examples of problems that can be caused by not using enough detergent -
