Hot water supply for hot and cold fill machines

Recommended Posts

I bought this whirlpool machine a couple of weeks ago: 3LWTW4705FW

It’s hot and cold supply. The appliance specialist who sold me it told me to arrange a hot supply. I did that but it’s off a small electric water heater used for a sink. He fitted the machine. Now there’s an issue with the capacity of the heater as I could smell burning plastic.

Is there any way of telling how big a heater you need to run the machine? The manual isn’t helpful other than pressure figures. Also, could a Y piece be used to make the two inlets use cold supply? I’ve read that this works in other machines.

thank you!

Hello there. You do not need a hot water supply to run a hot and cold washing machine. Obviously it is designed to use hot water, so ideally yes you should have a hot water supply. But my article here explains how you can happily use such a washing machine with just one cold water supply Washing machine is a hot and cold fill, but I only have a cold water supply
