eddiek156 0 Report post Posted January 28 Our Hotpoint washing machine runs through its wash cycle fine. We then leave it to auto power off as pressing the power on/off button on the machine doesnt work. When we come to use it again it wont power on. We have powered off the socket on the wall, unplugged and plugged back in, swapped to using a different wall socket using a known working extension lead. Still wont power on. The only thing that works is to swap the fuse in the plug. It then works fine until next time. We then have to put the original fuse back in and it powers on again without pressing the button. Currently we have 2 working fuses on rotation. Am i right in thinking the issue is with the power switch on the front of the machine? It just seems odd that powering off at the wall doesnt help yet removing/swapping the fuse does. Thanks
Whitegoodshelp (Andy) 183 Report post Posted January 29 Very strange. That doesn't make any logical sense at all. There's no wonder you are puzzled. The washing machine can't possibly know that you've changed a fuse. Is it possible that the change is induced by disconnecting the washing machine completely from the mains and plugging it back in several minutes later after you have spent time changing the fuse? Have you only switched it off or disconnected it for quite a short period of time? Have you tried unplugging it for several minutes? Need an engineer, or to buy appliance spare parts?
