Dryers with steam function used as washing machine

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Some washing machines come with steam option, as do some dryers. Now if steam does just as good, if not better job at cleaning, compared to a traditional wash+detergent, could you wet your clothes, put them in the steam dryer, select the steam function and that would clean them?

Hello there. I've not really looked too closely into steam washing machines. I once tested it steam tumble dryer was disappointed with it. With the tumble dryers the steam is used to minimise creasing. With washing machines I think they just use the steam to enhance wash efficiency and reduce creasing. As far as I'm aware they do not clean the clothes with the steam. So I think that the steam could not replace current methods of washing.
