Installing A Miele Washer

Recommended Posts

Just took delivery of a Miele washing machine today, and the instructions say that if you have a flloor made of floorboards (which we have), the machine should be mounted on a plywood plinth with stops fitted to prevented the machine vibrating off it (I really can't see that happening!). Question is, how necessary is it really to have the plinth and if it is, how available are the stops (these are Miele spares apparently)? Thanks.

Hello Chrish. Maybe Miele are just covering their backs here. The washing machine won’t be damaged without it. They have a reputation for being one of the quietist and most stable washing machines, and they would prefer it to be installed on a solid floor where it will be as quiet and stable as possible.

The chances are the washing machine will be fine, and perfectly stable, but springy floors, and laminated (very smooth) floors can allow movement on spin. Even the best washing machines may move a little on such flooring. If you find this happens, and if it’s a problem for you, you could consider standing it on a plywood plinth with stops fitted. Any “stops” should do, including wooden batons.

Thanks for the helpful reply - my wife has now done two washes in the machine, and it certainly seems to be OK straight on the wooden floorboards.

Chris :)
