John Lewis give 2 year guarantee on white goods appliances

Need A New Washing Machine... But It's A Minefield!

Recommended Posts

I've recently had a 2nd child and my old indesit washing machine (which 'v enever been happy with anyway) is on its last legs. I'd really like to replace it before it breaks down completely but don't know what brand to go for. I'd be doing at least a load of washing a day with it I would say, sometimes more.

I know that ISE and Miele are the best options in reality, but on my maternity pay I simply can't afford the initial outlay. I was quite keen to get a Bosch but now I've read that they have sealed tubs (which I understand is not good at all when it comes to repairs - or replacement as the case may well be!)

So I have looked on the Which website and have narrowed it down to the following options (2 are Bosch, but how would I find out if they have sealed tubs or not?)

Bosch WAQ28461GB - £475 ish

Bosch WAQ24461 - £450 ish

AEG L75470FL - £520 ish

Panasonic NA-140VX3W - £545 ish - I didn't even know panasonic made w/m but it comes with a 6 year warranty so that's why it's on my list!

Can anyone shed some light on whether any of these are worth giving a go, or which one might be best, or whether they would have sealed tubs or not?

It's a terrible situation when I can't personally recommend any of these washing machines. I quite like AEG but they also use the new sealed tubs and Panasonic don't have a great aftersales reputation although if it has a 6 year guarantee you may be prepared to chance it. ( Panasonic washing machines )

The only washing machines I can personally recommend are Miele and The ISE10 but they are very expensive. Other than that I would recommend the John Lewis Brand washing machines

I have to declare that I'm an affiliate of John Lewis and can earn commission on sales (of any washing machine) if people visit them and buy from my sites but the reasons I would recommend the John Lewis brand are -

John Lewis give them a 3 year guarantee
John Lewis have a reputation for high quality service and after sales care to maintain
John Lewis have their name on this brand (currently made by Zanussi) and have an interest in keeping customers who buy them satisfied.

I can't guarantee whether the John Lewis brand washers have sealed tubs or not as they are made by the company that makes AEG and Zanussi. You can try asking John Lewis. It's possible most if not all washing machines will end up with these horrible sealed tubs because it's so much cheaper to make them that way but at least you have a 3 year guarantee from a company renowned and committed to giving above average service and customer care.

Bosch still currently have a reasonable reputation for the money they cost. Bosch should have a 2 year guarantee.
